ZAKARIÁS PÁL Autonomous forms – exhibiton
Opening: 23 May 2024, 6pm
Welcome speech: Ernst Sturzenegger
Opening speech: István Elmer writer
The material of the exhibition is a contemporary abstract form language, through pictures and sculptures, an abstract, specific world is revealed to the visitor. The large-scale color pictures with the formal features of expressionism explore the connections between today’s fashionable virtual cyberspaces and the real spatial experience with the tools of color field painting, using contemporary imaging solutions.
In contrast to the uncertain reality of the spaces of the images, the sculptures represent a three-dimensional tangible security. However, the definition of the meaning of the forms can lead in many directions here as well.
Through perception, the works enable the examination of the relationship between form and space and the system of associative meanings. The stone sculptures placed on wooden bases show definite organic, biomorphic features starting from geometrical forms. The minimalist, autonomous forms offer a liberating experience of closeness to nature and at first glance they may appear to be creatures with an independent identity that cannot be precisely identified.
